What does it mean to Indigenize Wikipedia, and how can people support this effort? It’s not only adding Indigenous content; it’s challenging the types and sources of knowledge valued on the site. In this video join Erin O'Neil, the University of Alberta Library's Wikipedian in Residence in conversation with Heather Steinhagen, organizer of Indigenize Wikipedia in Yukon, to discuss her community work bringing people together to improve the site with Indigenous content and ways of knowing, and explore other examples of Indigenization efforts on Wikipedia. This is the second talk in a three talk series called "Diving Deeper into Wikipedia" that aims to draw back the curtain on Wikipedia. This speaker series is supported by a grant from Wikimedia Canada.
